Plateau of Leng Pointcrawl - The Mountains

This post is part of a series about a pointcrawl across the Plateau of Leng. See the Masterpost for more details and links to the other points of interest.

The towering mountains that surround the Plateau of Leng are shrouded in perpetual mist. The Agents might find themselves climbing these mountains when they want to enter or leave Leng. Or they might try to avoid the dangers of the plains by hiking along hidden paths that they can find in and along the mountain range.

Encounters

  1. The Agents come across a Tibetan Yak herder, who entered Leng by accident. He is confused and can only speak Tibetan and a little Mandarin. He begs for food and will follow the Agents, in the hope that they can lead him back home.
  2. The Agents have to cross a glacier riddled with deep crevasses that impede their progress. To get over these obstacles the Agents have to either climb (Athletics, STRx5) or somehow build a bridge. Anyone falling into a crevasse takes 2D6 points of damage.
  3. Atop a mountain peak an Agent looks north and catches a glimpse of unknown Kadath. They must succeed on a POWx5 roll, otherwise they are overcome by euphoria and try to convince their fellow Agents that they have to travel to this imposing mountain, many miles from their current location. This effect wears off after 1D4 hours, but the experience costs 0/1D4 SAN from the unnatural for the affected Agent and 0/1 SAN from helplessness for everyone else.
  4. The Agents encounter an "abominable snowman", a Metoh-Kangmi (Handler's Guide, pg. 216). The creature is no longer controlled by a Mi-go and has gone feral ever since it entered Leng. Nearby is a cave in which the beast lives. Inside the Agents can find one or two Mi-go weapons (Handler's Guide, pg. 218).
