Delta Green NPC - The Bishop

The Bishop is the main antagonist for the modern day Karotechia campaign I am working on (click here for more information). The Agents probably won't meet him until they have progressed far into the campaign, since he is at the top of the conspiracy. Nevertheless, I find it important to give some background information about the main antagonist before I detail the other parts of the campaign.

Shotgun Scenario Review: GEMINI

In this post I review GEMINI, a 2018 shotgun scenario by Helena. The Agents are sent to investigate the murder of two unidentified children, whose corpses appear almost identical. Meanwhile, three children have gone missing in a nearby town, but the physical characteristics of the found bodies do not match the identities of the missing children.

Sinister Seed - The Billionaire

The following NPC was submitted to the Sinister Seed Jam, which Agent Obtuse ran on the Night at the Opera Discord. For this jam people could submit locations, NPCs, artifacts, or plots that are useful for a Delta Green game. However, each entry should list three possible backgrounds, a mundane one, a Mythos-related one, and an "occult" one. In this case, occult means supernatural, but not related to the Mythos or DG lore. I submitted Harrison Russel, a tech billionaire.

Framework for a Delta Green vs. Karotechia Sandbox Campaign

For my current Delta Green campaign I had two goals in mind:

  1. I wanted it to center around Delta Green's history, since my players are largely unaware of the DG lore.
  2. I wanted the campaign to be more player-driven, a sandbox in which the players decide what to investigate next.
The first goal is rather easy to achieve, I just had to select a threat or antagonist with which Delta Green has a long history and make them the main focus of the campaign. I selected the Karotechia as main threat. In the modern day Delta Green lore the Karotechia is all but dead, but I decided that one of the Karotechia Bishops somehow survived the raid on La Estancia. Now he is rebuilding the organization and ready to take revenge on Delta Green.

Shotgun Scenario Review: Operation ABSOLUTE RARITY

Welcome back to another shotgun scenario review. This entry in this series is about Operation ABSOLUTE RARITY, submitted by Agent Obtuse to the 2019 shotgun contest. In this scenario the Agents have to stop someone from publishing the Necronomicon online after a successful crowdfunding campaign.

Shotgun Scenario Review: Operation Minoan Augur

In this post I'm reviewing the scenario Operation Minoan Augur, written by Agent Obtuse and submitted to the 2020 Shotgun Scenario Contest. I ran this a while ago and am only now getting around to reviewing it. Caution, there will be spoilers!

Oliver Marley’s ThinkPad - An Artifact for Delta Green

The following is an artifact that I wrote up for an artifact and tome jam that took place on the Night at the Opera Discord server. This one might be particularly interesting if you have a computer scientist/hacker/electrical engineer among your Agents.

Shotgun Scenario Review: Eat, Pray, Love

This is a review of Eat, Pray, Love by magnificentophat and Lithobraker, which was submitted to the 2020 Shotgun Scenario Contest. I have played in this scenario, as well as run it myself. Do not read on if you want to avoid spoilers.

Playing A Hacker In Delta Green

Hackers can be incredibly effective Delta Green Agents, especially in the standard modern setting, where digital technology is pervasive. But many people might be intimidated, because Delta Green strives for a realistic feel and they think that they can’t play a hacker well if they don’t know how "real" hacking works. In this post I list some techniques that a real life hacker could use to break into systems and how to map them to Delta Green skills.

Shotgun Scenario Review: Jessica's Bodies

This post is the first in a series in which I review fan-written scenarios for  Delta Green. There is a lot of fan content, e.g. there are over 400 shotgun scenarios listed on the Fairfield wiki. I hope these reviews help to spotlight some of the many excellent fan creations. I will concentrate on scenarios that I have run or played in, because sometimes a scenario reads better than it runs, or vice versa.

In this post I'm going to review the Jessica's Bodies by David Tormsen, which was a submission to the 2016 Shotgun Scenario Contest. This review contains spoilers, so don't read further if you want to play in this at some point.

Sentiment Analysis On 2021 Shotgun Scenario Reviews

The 2021 Shotgun Scenario Contest was the first Delta Green contest I entered. Unfortunately, due to voter fraud no winner was declared that year. This sucks for everyone who submitted a scenario, but it also makes it harder for everyone else to find the best 2021 scenarios without having to read them all.

However, some nice people on the Night at the Opera Discord server have read a lot of the scenarios and shared their feedback in review documents. In total there are 461 reviews, which means that on average there are 8.87 reviews for each of the 52 submitted scenarios. If we can find a way to turn a review in a score we can compute the average score for each scenario and rank them accordingly. Doing this by hand for all 461 reviews would be quite cumbersome, so let's automate this.

Using ChatGPT To Create Delta Green Scenarios

ChatGTP is all the rage right now and people are afraid that the super AI is going to take their jobs. Is my extremely well-paying job as fan scenario author endangered as well? Let's find out by having ChatGTP write a Delta Green scenario.

A Digital Green Box

Here is a Green Box that you can use for your Delta Green game. It's a bit unusual, because it's a digital Green Box, not a physical one. All the contents are of course digital as well, but might still prove useful and/or dangerous.

My Submissions To The 2022 Shotgun Scenario Contest

The 2022 Shotgun Scenario Contest has concluded. The winner scenario was Take The A Train by Bird, the second place and people's choice winner was Saturnalia by mellonbread. Two great scenarios that deserved to win, both were also among my votes.

There were a lot of other cool scenarios among the 53 entries. You can find all of them in the contest document or in the Fairfield 2 wiki.

I did not have time to playtest them, but I also wrote and submitted two entries to the contest, Applied Hypergeometry and Biodynamics. In this blog post I want to talk a bit about them and how I came up with them.
